We are living in a world of huge technological changes. One of the newest developments is Genetically Engineerd foods (GE foods), a.k.a. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).
Today, as part of Consumer Awareness, I'd like to share with you a little bit about GE foods. My intention is not to scare you, but to let you know that you have options to help you avoid terrible consequences and preserve your quality of life.
Promoters of GE foods claim that the greatest benefit of this new technology is that it will help end world hunger. Quite a claim, don't you think?

THE "TROJAN FISH" SYNDROME
"Two University of Purdue researchers found that when you engineer human growth genes or other growth genes into fish, you get superfish. These huge fish have human growth genes in every cell of their bodies. And it turns out that the females are attracted tot he larger male fish, the ones that are genetically engineered with these growth hormones. So they have a selective advantage.The genetically engineered males create more offspring. However, the reasearchers also discovered that these new growth hormones cause a one-third greater mortality in the offspring.
So, here you have Darwin on his head. You have a selective advantage in the genetically engineerd fish, as far as reproduction, but their offspring are dying at a one-third greater rate than the offspring of the normal fish.
Scientists found that putting 60 genetically engineerd fish into a population of 60,000 native fish could render the entire species extinct in as little as 40 years. This 'Trojan Fish' syndrome demonstrates the extraordinary ecological threat of genetic engineering.
Meanwhile, our own Food and Drug Administration is in the process of approving these fish."

Now... What exactly is genetic engineering?
Genes form the building blocks of life--they make a tomato a tomato and a human being a human being. Genetic engineers cut, slice, and transfer genes between totally unrelated living things to produce combinations that would never occur naturally--like fish and strawberries, viruses and vegetables, humans and animals.
For example, did you know that the New Leaf Bt potatoes sold in the grocery stores are being regulated by the EPA as a pesticide, and not as a food item?
Want to know why?
The potato that has been genetically modified by crossing the potato gene with the gene of the Bt (Bacillus Thuringiensis) toxin, is now genetically a pesticide! Though still edible, the Bt potato has inherited enough of the gene characteristics of the toxin, to now also be considered a pesticide. And, as a pesticide, it is regulated by the EPA. However, for labeling purposes, it was morphed back into the Food category. But, and this is really amazing...the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act specifically bars the FDA from including any information about pesticides on its food labels!!!
So, you may be eating these potatoes without knowing.

Thanks to GE, mainstream grocery-store foods (even vegetables) are becoming huge health-threats.
My advice?... BUY ORGANIC!! And Detoxify on a regular basis from the toxins in our air, water, and food supplies.
We are being invaded by harmful pesticides, toxins, and chemicals from every angle.
You can either sit back and let it come upon you, or you can make simple lifestyle changes to protect your body, your health, and preserve your valuable quality of life. Life is just to short to waste it being sick!
